Matthew Starner
Welcome to Beyond the Noise! Hopefully, you’ll find it encouraging, thought-provoking and maybe a little challenging. Church is my life and worship is what I do. Much of what I’ve learned has come from experiences I’ve had in my lifetime of going to church and in the more than 12 years I’ve been working in the church in some capacity (9 of them in professional ministry). Even though I’m just a young guy I have a desire to help churches and ministry leaders break out of the molds and get innovative when it comes to reaching a lost and hurting world with the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
This blog isn’t just for church leaders and ministry directors though – I hope everyone can engage in dialog and explore what it means to be the church that Jesus intended us to be in the 21st century.
I am the Director of Worship & Arts for Journey of Faith in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I’ve been a part of the team since July 2006. My job encompasses everything from music, technology, communications and more. Music is my passion. I’ve played piano since I was a child and have been playing in church since high school. I’m excited to see all that God is doing at Journey of Faith and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
